Kim Delaney, an American actress, is best known for her character the character Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series, for which she was awarded an Emmy Award. In addition, she was a part of shows like All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was born the only child of her mother who was a homemaker and senior executive from the United Auto Workers. Delaney spent most of her childhood in the company of four brothers. The idea of becoming a court reporter in childhood but started modelling while at high school, eventually earning commercials after moving into New York. She was cast as a young innocent in 1981's soap-opera All My Children. The career of Delaney has been filled with numerous television films and dramas. Similar to her profession, her personal life hasn't been happy or successful. The talented actress has struggled with alcoholism throughout her life and had two marriages that failed. She lost custody of her son in 2005.
